What is therapy like at Compassion Counseling?
Therapy happens in a quiet place, personally with your therapist that you know and trust.
Therapy happens when you feel safe and known by the person sitting across from you!
We all have periods of times in our lives where we experience struggle. The intensely painful feeling that we are unworthy of love and belonging and the constant comparison between ourselves and others can make navigating life difficult. We all need someone who will listen, validate, and be a part of our many emotions depending on what's happening in our lives at this very moment. It is our belief that we are all capable of cultivating our best selves when we take the time to dig deep into what it is that is keeping us from living our authentic lives.
Asking for help takes a lot of courage. Our approach with clients begins in a safe environment free of judgement and comparison. Feeling safe is essential to being able to tell your story so that you are able to move through the challenges that brought you here.

What happens during a session?
We at Compassion Counseling believe that you, the client, are in the drivers seat of each 50 minute counseling session. What happens each time you come in is up to what you feel that you need. No session is the same, just like no day in your life and relationships are the same. Counseling is not a therapist grilling you or forcing you to share your deepest, darkest secrets. Instead, it is the slow process of building relationship and trust with your therapist, over time. As that relationship is built with a therapist who is a good fit for you, you begin to want to untangle all the factors that make up your life. Along the way, we will together begin to piece together what is really going on with you. We’re not here to fix you, you are not some project that we’re trying to figure out. Instead, we’re here to support you and process with you all that life brings. Therapy addresses the root of our issues rather than the symptoms. If we only focus on the symptoms and alleviating them, it doesn’t address the core issues and result in lasting change. This work takes time, but results in true transformation. We hope that you will trust us, feel safe with us, and begin to grow into who you authentically want to be!
